For more than 20 years, Tom Whitty has been living a double life. Journalist by day, he led a national prime time TV show, writing stuff that embarrassed Prime Ministers, changed federal policy, raised millions for vulnerable Australians. While at night, Whitty was out painting walls. Inspired by the usual suspects of the UK stencil scene, Whitty used Melbourne’s walls to say whatever he couldn’t during the day. Or just to paint something pretty.
The art was never for sale. It was for kicks. Then some of it was. House of Whitty is where that work ends up now. Limited runs, some of it as prints, some of it as something you can wear, all of it delivered with heart. Since 2023, House of Whitty releases have raised more than $80,000 for causes ranging from delivering aid in Gaza to supporting Australia’s First Nations children.
