Grace has lost most of her speaking appearance work in 2026 after consistently criticising the ongoing genocide in Gaza and calling for a global resistance to Israel’s occupation of Palestine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe central image of this work references the iconic moment Grace gave side-eye to former Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, on her final day as Australian of the Year. To many, it was funny, maybe rude, certainly unusual. To me, it signified something far greater. The image showed a fearless woman willing to show her contempt for a man she felt had failed her nation. There is also a David and Goliath element to it; a refusal to accept the power imbalance. And it’s just punk as hell. Grace lives her truth, and while many have tried to quieten that truth, she continues to raise her voice for vulnerable people. I chose the green and gold colours to represent Grace’s unforgettable tenure as Australian on the Year. Each layer was hand-pulled across acid-free 250gsm warm archival paper.
